Join us in supporting the stars of the future

Our young members are at the heart of everything we do. We believe that giving young people a platform to perform onstage gives them confidence and has a positive impact on wellbeing.

Health + Wellness

Performing as a group provides young people with a shared positive experience. Something they are able to bond over, creating friends and a support network. For many, having a group outside of school or family is vital.

Confidence

Youth theatre helps children feel more self-assured and confident in their own abilities, which will benefit them for the rest of their lives.

Social Development

Theatre is fun for children of all ages, and it’s a great way for them to make new friends. Many children develop lifelong friends through theatre, and they look forward to each new production.

CHAIR

Jackie Robinson

I was part of the team who set A-Team up in 2013 and have been involved in different roles ever since. I was the group’s Secretary for several years and was appointed Chair in 2021. I have always loved musical theatre and in my distant past I was also a performer, singing in choirs and performing in the Fringe, pantomime and musical theatre in the Usher Hall.

As well as my duties as Chair I also have the pleasure of directing our shows, where I am fortunate towork with lots of lovely young people, approx. 300 since we first started in 2013. In my day job I
manage a property maintenance and repairs company, employing approx 60 staff, which couldn’t be further removed from what I do at A-Team.

A-Team aims to give young people, who may not have the financial means, the opportunity to takepart in a full production of a musical theatre show. We give the young people somewhere to go and access to a new group of friends, which will boost their confidence and give them transferable skills for their future. I look forward to sharing this with many more young people in the coming years.

Treasurer

Kenny Robinson

I have been employed in various finance roles, in the rail, banking and retail industries for over 35 years. I took on the duties of the Treasurer temporarily, to help out – that was 5 years ago and I’m still helping out!

I also work as part of the team who design and build A-Team’s fantastic sets. This is always challenging but the end result always looks amazing.

Mamie Mckenna

I’m Mamie Mckenna and alongside being the parent of one of  A Teams members Charlie-Kate I work full time in Early years.  I’m an inclusion & well-being officer and work for Midlothian council, it’s a full on job but I do love it!

I am a great supporter of the work that A Team does with the children & young people and love the whole inclusive values that we have. I try and help out whenever I can and have been given the tag “fundraising queen”!

Secretary

Marianne Hogg

Hi!  I’m Marianne and I’m A-Team’s Secretary.  I got a law degree from Glasgow University and worked as a solicitor for many years. I currently work as an adviser at Edinburgh Napier Students Association, with a special focus on housing law rights.

My son has been in three A-Team productions and we love our A-Team family!  I love books, walking my dog in the Pentland Hills and spending time with my family. My favourite musical is Six!
